SOAK Matthew 2:7-8

"Watch Out"

Herod lied to the Magi because he wanted to find Jesus and kill Him.

Remember that not everyone you deal with has honest motives.
Remember to "not be suspicious, but alert" when dealing with even those who claim they want to follow Jesus.

I pray for you to be alert always.

SOAK Luke 2:9-10

"All the People"

The angels announcement makes it clear. Jesus was born for all.

That was always God's plan. If so, as His children we must do our part to make sure everyone hears about Jesus, not just those who are like us.

I pray that you will share your faith with others.

SOAK Matthew 2:11

"Worship Him"

Everything in life ultimately comes down to our relationship with God and His Son Jesus.

In the end, the relationship we must have with God and Jesus is to worship them; in thought, word and deed, and with all our hearts.

I pray that you would worship Him in every circumstance of your life.

SOAK Luke 2:18-20

"What Happened to Mary?"

Right in the middle of the shepherds story, we are told about Mary.

We Protestants don't talk about her much, but we should. Her willing acceptance of whatever role God has for her to play should be an example to all of us.

My prayer for you today is that you would find and embrace God's purpose for your life and live to fulfill it.

SOAK Luke 2:16-17

"Spread the Word"

The shepherds had been included in knowing that God's plan for salvation was unfolding right there. Instead of keeping it to themselves, they told everyone.

Who have you told about God's unfolding plan?

I pray that you will share God's plan with others.

SOAK Luke 2:13-14

Host=Army
When the "heavenly host" sang in this familiar story, we rightly think "angels." But somehow we have a mental picture of peaceful, gentle little angels singing for shepherds. The word host means "army."

No wonder "on earth peace to men on whom (God's) favor rests."

No matter how difficult the situation we are going through, the Lord of unmeasurable might and power is on our side.

SOAK Matthew 1:22-23

"God With Us"

Why did God come and live with us?

Certainly to die for our sins, but is there more?

Some think He came to understand humans, but an all knowing God wouldn't learn anything by becoming a man.

Didn't he come that we could understand more about Him? In Jesus we see expressed, in a human form that we can understand, what God is really like.

In Jesus' willingness to become human and die for us we also see how great and serious His love for us really is. None of us can look at the whole story of the incarnation of Jesus and question if God really loves us.

I pray that you would be reminded of His love today.
